Visual Concepts:Rdng 01

I thought the visual concepts reading 1 had some helpful tips and point of views about problem solving and the design process, such as the following: "The best way to allow the unexpected possibilities of chance to enter the design process is being open to unexpected forms of inspiration." The article then went on to list a few examples of places that inspire designers, such as wandering through a museum, hardware store, or library, which can ' reveal forms, colors combinations, and images that enrich the data bank of the brain.'  I also thought the term 'black box,' which describes 'collecting all available data and letting it rummage around in the back of the mind, and then letting that information synthesize until possible solutions emerge intuitively' was a good description about what happens when you are problem solving and trying to form a creative idea. The description reminded me of cooking something in a crock pot actually:)..first you gather all your good ingredients (information) , let it simmer and slow cook in the pot for a few hours, and then once all the ingredients and flavors have mixed together, you have a delicious(hopefully) roast, stew, etc. -A.K.A:  a creative solution to your problem!
