MODULAR GRID



A modular grid is made up of consistent horizontal and vertical lines or divisions that create a grid system made up of modules, margins and gutters. An image or text block can occupy one or more of the modules.

Margins:
The margin is the space between the grid and the edge of the page.

Columns:
Vertical divisions in a grid running left to right.

Grid modules:
The boxes in a modular grid used as live space which are occupied by text or images. These modules are created by the vertical and horizontal lines that make up the grid.

Flowlines:
Horizantal and vertical lines in the grid.

Gutter:
The gutter is the space between, and separating each module.
