Revise:concept,persona,tone

REVISED CONCEPT STATEMENT:

After meeting in small groups, there were two concept statements that people responded to. I have a quote and a compound word that each could work as my concept statement, so I am using them both, but have made my descriptive word list work for both.

Quote: "Which is better-to have laws and agree,or to hunt & kill?"

Compound word: Ominous/Naive

Naive:

1. Lacking worldly experience and understanding 2. simple and guileless;artless, and child with naive charm 3. unsuspecting,credulous,showing characterized or lack of sophistication and critical judgement.4. lacking developed powers of analysis,reasoning and criticism 5. another word for primitive.

Ominous:

1. menacing;threatening: ominous black clouds;ominous rumblings of discontent. 2. of or being an omen,especially an evil one 3. threatening or foreshadowing evil or tragic developments.

Descriptive words: mysterious,darkness,light vs. dark,brutal,chaos,good vs. evil,primitive,child like,innocent,judgement,laws,faded,repetition,clouds,

life,contrast, juxtapose,gloomy,blood,calm.

I didn't change a lot in my tone and to suggest list, I did make a few changes though (see bold).

I want the tone of the series to portray the contrast of good vs. evil, and light vs. dark. I am imagining the covers having an innocent feel, but also this sense of darkness and detachment.

Audience Persona (round 2):

Alex is a 16 year old girl and a sophomore in high school. She lives five miles outside of a smaller rural community in Kansas with a little over 16,000 residents. Alex is the oldest child, and has 2 sisters and 1 brother. Growing up, Alex and her siblings came up with their own entertainment and often played school,put on plays, and created homemade music videos with their parents old video camera. Alex fondly remembers all of the handmade costumes her mom made for her and her siblings every Halloween. Alex loves animals, especially dogs, and has a Saint Bernard named Toby. As a child, she thought she wanted to be a veterinarian, but as she's gotten older she's become more interested in her social life and doesn't think cleaning up after cats and dogs all day is the job for her.

Alex drives a black jeep commander to school everyday. Alex likes school and being social,she is out for volleyball and a member of the yearbook staff. In school, she tends to focus more on socializing and often daydreams or doodles on her notes during class. Alex's typical get up usually consists of jeans,chucks, and a band t-shirt, such as Nirvana, the Beatles, or the Rolling Stones. On the weekends Alex attends the football games with her friends, goes to the mall and sometimes the movies, if there's a thriller out you can bet she'll be there. Alex enjoys playing board games, cross-words, and any kind of puzzle. She perfers to listen to light rock and alternative music, and ocassionally rap or hip hop. Her parents pay for her phone and gas bill, but her part-time job at Best Buy helps fund her leisure activities. Alex is creative by nature and enjoys crafts and DIY projects, she recently re-decorated her bedroom...for the third time this year. Her favorite T.V. shows are Project Runway,Dexter,and House. Today, Alex was given her first project in her English 01 class, she has a list of approved books to choose from to write a reflective essay over the symbolism in the story and how it relates to today's society. Not being a big fan of leisure reading, Alex isn't particularly thrilled or motivated to start the assignment.

**Alex is basically your typical highschool teen, she is a bit rebellious, but is grounded by her strong family values. When doing my persona revision, I wanted to give Alex a little more of an edge, and still show her creative nature.
